Local Amenities and List of Restaurants

Beaches - The Treasure Coast beaches are gorgeous and run for miles and miles with numerous entry points and parking lots. The nearest beach to PGA Village is over the Jensen Beach Causeway located on S. Hutchinson Island. Take Prima Vista Boulevard east to US1 and head south. Turn left onto Walton Road. Follow Walton Road and turn right - south - onto Indian River Drive. When you come to the roundabout, go around and take the right exit onto Causeway East Boulevard. Go over the bridge and onto Hutchinson Island. Turn left at the lights, heading north.

Fitness - There are two choices for fitness workouts: Gold’s Gym is a great facility that allows a daily, weekly or monthly drop-in fee that is very reasonable. They are located behind the Rave movie theatres just over I-95. The other small workout facility is at the PGA Learning Center. It is very modest and costs about the same as Gold’s.

Baseball - The New York Mets hold spring training in Port St. Lucie from late February through March at the Thomas J. White Stadium, 525 NW Peacock Blvd (561-871-2115). Tickets cost $9 to $12. Practices are daily from 9:30 am and are free. From April though August, their farm team the Port St. Lucie Mets plays home games in the stadium which is located across I-95 from PGA Village.

Boat Tours - St. Lucie River Tours, 500 E. Prima Vista Blvd., (561) 871-2817, offers intriguing tours of the St. Lucie River twice daily (at 10:45 am and again at 1:00 pm). The 2-hour tours go through winding waterways that are home to hundreds of wading birds and reptiles. The historical and wildlife tour is well worth the $15 for adults and $7 for children under 12.

Children’s Activities - Club Med, Sandpiper - 3500 SE Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie Florida 34952 (800) CLUB-MED or (772) 398-5100. www.clubmed.com. Offers a wide range of children’s activities in a summer camp like setting. A reasonable day fee ($35USD) provides a full day of fun, meals and supervision for your children. Numerous other activities are plentiful.

Shopping -Several great shopping malls exist between Vero Beach and West Palm Beach. Market Mall – PGA Blvd in Palm Beach Gardens, east of I–95 Tangers Outlet Mall – I–95 north 20 minutes, Near Fort Pierce/Vero Beach Port St. Lucie Mall - on US 1 near Stuart
